Tidah Adhiambo
Co-Founder & Chief Strategist
Tidah is a strategic partnerships and fundraising expert with over seven years of experience across Africa’s philanthropic and development sectors.
She has led high-impact donor engagement for organisations like the Gates Foundation, Mastercard Foundation, Swiss Re Foundation, Oppenheimer Generations, among others, stewarding multimillion-dollar partnerships and crafting compelling funding narratives.
Tidah leads the firm’s partnerships strategy, drawing on her deep understanding of both grant seekers and grantmakers to build high-trust relationships and shape tailored ‘matchmaking’ strategies for funders. She leverages her deep dual-perspective as a grantmaker and grant seeker to help funders identify aligned, de-risked organisations and deliver measurable impact with speed and clarity.
Founders' Statement
We founded Transforming Journeys Africa (TJ Africa) on a shared belief: philanthropy should be guided by insight, grounded in values, and deeply aligned with realities on the ground, designed not only to give, but to create lasting impact through locally led development and accountable partnerships.
Founders' Note
Having worked for over a decade across the development, philanthropic, and communications sectors, we have sat on both sides of the table, supporting vetting nonprofits in Africa, navigating donor expectations, and advising funders on high-stakes decisions related to funding strategy in emerging markets. A recurring challenge became clear: funders face an overwhelming volume of proposals, but limited clarity on readiness, credibility, and alignment.
TJ Africa was created to close that gap.
As a boutique consultancy providing philanthropy advisory services, we support grantmakers, from corporate foundations to family offices, by helping them move from intent to impact with greater confidence. Our work combines sector intelligence, trusted networks, and strategic matching for philanthropy to connect funders with organisations capable of delivering durable, locally led impact.
We apply trust-based philanthropy principles in practice, balancing relational grantmaking with accountability, clear expectations, and strong reporting systems. This includes supporting impact reporting for funders, strengthening grantee readiness, and ensuring funding decisions are informed by context, evidence, and proximity.
Whether supporting a corporate foundation seeking aligned partners, a family office refining its giving strategy, or a global funder expanding its Africa portfolio, TJ Africa provides grantmaking support for foundations that prioritises clarity, coordination, and long-term value creation. Through disciplined advisory, curated pipelines, and rigorous due diligence, capital is connected with credibility.
Let us help you back the right people, for the right reasons, with the right results.
